I wanted to share with you a staple of my weekly routine that is easy, simple and tasty- Homemade almond milk. If you drink almond milk as much as we do and look at the ingredients inside you start to wonder if it is actually all that good for you. So last year I gave homemade almond milk a try and I have never gone back.
We drink almond milk every morning in our smoothies, so switching to a natural almond milk without all that junk was a given. Now this only takes me 10 mins every 3 days. I can't even run to the store and back in that amount of time!
Here is the easy recipe that you have to try! I promise you will love it. Just know it will taste more watered down. It doesn't have the fillers/ preservatives in it!
Ingredients
1 cup almonds ( I usually buy them on Sprouts when they are on sale)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 dates
4 1/2 cups water ( I just use my PUR filterer)
You will need a blender, I have a ninja that I use and a nut milk bag which you can purchase off of amazon with the link here or in a bed bath and beyond store.
The leftover almond pulp that you have in the nut bag, do not throw it away! I love to re-use everything. Put parchment paper on a pan, spread the almond pulp on top of the parchment paper and then put it in the oven at 200 for about 2- 2 1/2 hours. Then I blend up the dried out almond pulp and stick it in the freezer. Therefore, whenever a recipe calls for almond flour I just pull it out of the freezer! It is a total win, win.
